Myrna Pérez, director of the Voting Rights and Elections Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law, testified before the House of Representatives’ Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties on September 10, 2019 in support of the Voting Rights Advancement Act. This bill would revitalize the Voting Rights Act, by restoring and updating key provisions that were gutted by the Supreme Court in the 2013 Shelby County v. Holder decision.
