On July 27, 2021, Justice Program Director L.B. Eisen submitted testimony to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security for a hearing titled A Fine Scheme: How Court-Imposed Fees and Fines Unjustly Burden Vulnerable Communities. Drawing from original Brennan Center research, Eisen urges Congress to incentivize states to reduce the burden of court-imposed fees and fines on the most marginalized people in our communities.
