Current felony disenfranchisement laws
Oklahoma law disenfranchises people with felony convictions for the duration of their court-ordered sentencess, regardless of whether they earn early discharge from sentence.
Legislative advocacy
2006. The Brennan Center drafted a comprehensive bill to restore the franchise upon release from incarceration and to implement this change through notice, voter registration assistance, information-sharing, and public education. The bill was introduced in Oklahoma in February 2006; unfortunately, we were unable to secure its passage in the 2006 session.
