Bren­nan Center pres­id­ent Michael Wald­man test­i­fies Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, before the House Admin­is­tra­tion Commit­tee’s Subcom­mit­tee on Elec­tions at a hear­ing titled “Voting Rights and Elec­tion Admin­is­tra­tion in Amer­ica.” His testi­mony will discuss new laws that make it harder to vote, voter purges that threaten access to the ballot, and elec­tion secur­ity chal­lenges states face head­ing into the 2020 elec­tion. He will also discuss reforms that expand access to voting and strengthen the secur­ity of elec­tion systems, includ­ing a sweep­ing demo­cracy reform bill called H.R. 1 that was passed by the House earlier this year.
