On October 13, Attorney General Eric Holder will present an award to Laura Abel, Acting Co-Director of the Brennan Center’s Justice Program, recognizing her and her colleagues as Champions of Change for dedicating their professional lives to closing the justice gap in America. As a leading strategist, advocate and thinker on expanding legal representation for low-income families, Ms. Abel has worked tirelessly for more than a decade to make vivid the importance of civil legal aid. Ms. Abel has also been a driving force behind expanding access to the courts for people who have limited proficiency in English.
The October 13 event, hosted by the White House Office of Public Engagement and the Department of Justice’s Access to Justice Initiative, honors a small group of people who are “Winning the Future” and inspire others to follow their lead. The event will be webcast live on October 13 at 2:00 p.m.
