Michael Waldman, president of the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law, had the following comment on the death of Representative John Lewis:
“Representative John Lewis was a moral force and an extraordinary leader, in the great struggles from the 1960s to today. His passing is an incalculable loss for the country. His life, and his unshakable commitment to the ideals of racial justice and American democracy, must be an inspiration and a spur to all of us.”
