On February 10, the Brennan Center hosted a lively discussion between our executive director, Michael Waldman, and the Center for American Progress’ Sarah Rosen Wartell (both pictured above). In a recently released report, “The Power of the President,” Wartell explained how the president – despite a divided Congress – can use a variety of executive tools to advance a progressive agenda. These tools include executive orders, rulemaking, agency management, diplomacy, and more. The discussion drew an array of leaders from the progressive community in New York and other public policy professionals.
