Naz Balkam is a program associate in the Brennan Center’s Liberty and National Security Program. Before joining the center, she worked as a litigation project assistant at Winston & Strawn LLP.
Balkam earned a BA in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, where she was a Leonard D. Schaeffer Fellow, UCLA law fellow, and recipient of the UC Presidential Public Service Award. These opportunities allowed her to address issues ranging from foreign affairs to housing development in her roles at USAID’s Bureau of Legislative Affairs and the City of San Jose’s rent stabilization program, among others.
