Featured Work from Our Experts

American democracy is facing unprecedented strain. President Trump is pushing the limits of executive power, openly challenging the Constitution and our system of checks and balances. Since taking office, he has attempted to revoke birthright citizenship from the children of undocumented immigrants, invoked emergency powers to sidestep Congress, and deployed military forces against civilians. He has also used an antiquated wartime authority during peacetime to carry out his immigration crackdown. Additionally, his administration is marked by glaring conflicts of interest and policies that benefit his businesses and his top campaign donors.

The Brennan Center has prepared this resource to provide journalists with the legal and political context around these developments.
