On November 18, 2021, Senior Counsel Ian Vandewalker submitted a comment to New York State’s Public Campaign Finance Board regarding the second set of draft regulations implementing the state’s newly enacted small donor public financing program. These draft regulations address the mandatory debates for candidates for statewide office who accept public funds. The Brennan Center advocates for debates to be as accessible as possible so that they can best inform voters about the candidates.
