On May 5, 2026, Democratic and Republican primary elections were held to determine the candidates the partisan general election on November 3, 2026. Incumbent candidate Jennifer Brunner ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. In the Republican primary, former Franklin County Court Judge Colleen O’Donnell defeated Ohio Fifth District Court of Appeals Judge Andrew King, Ohio Ninth District Court of Appeals Judge Jill Flagg Lanzinger and Ohio Second District Court of Appeals Judge Ronald Lewis and ran against Justice Brunner for a seat on the Supreme Court in the November election. On November 3, Justice Brunner defeated Colleen O’Donnell to keep her seat on the court.
In addition, First District Court of Appeals Judge Marilyn Zayas defeated incumbent candidate Dan Hawkins for the second open seat on the Ohio Supreme Court in the November election.
