Harry Isaiah Black

Fellow, Democracy

Harry Isaiah Black was the George A. Katz Fellow with the Brennan Center’s Democracy Program, working across the Program’s various practice groups.

Prior to joining the Brennan Center, Harry served as a law clerk to the Hon. Lawrence E. Kahn of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and the Hon. Carl E. Stewart of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He also worked as a litigation associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP.

Harry received a JD cum laude from New York University School of Law, where he won the Seymour A. Levy Memorial Award. The award is given to the graduating student who has written the most outstanding Note for the Annual Survey of American Law. Before attending law school, Harry served as a corps member with Teach For America. He earned a BA Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University, where he majored in both Philosophy and International Studies.
