  • Curling et al. v. Raffensperger et al. (Amicus Brief)

    On September 28, 2020, a U.S. District Judge issued an order directing Georgia election officials to provide a “sufficient” supply of emergency paper ballots. The Brennan Center filed an amicus brief to urge the Judge to clarify her order by specifying that a “sufficient” supply of emergency ballots constitutes enough ballots for 40 percent of registered voters.

    The Ohio Democratic Party sued Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, arguing that voters are allowed under state law to submit absentee ballot applications by email. The Brennan Center and Miller Canfield, along with the ACLU of Ohio, Northeast Ohio Voter Advocates, and a group of leading election cybersecurity experts filed amicus briefs to explain that Ohio can allow voters to submit absentee ballot applications by email without compromising election security.
