Alice Clapman

Senior Counsel and Manager, Democracy

Alice Clapman is a senior counsel and manager in the Brennan Center’s Voting Rights and Elections Program.

Before joining the Brennan Center, she litigated reproductive rights cases and did policy work for Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Prior to that, she taught clinics, practiced, and wrote in the field of immigration law. She has been published in law journals including the Cardozo Law Review, New England Law Review, and Yale Law Journal.

Clapman earned her BA from Princeton University and her JD from Yale Law School. After law school, she clerked for Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and Judge Chester J. Straub of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Clapman is admitted to practice in Washington, DC.
