Julian Brookes is a senior media strategist at the Brennan Center, where he develops and executes media strategy for the Center’s Voting Rights and Elections program. He has 20-plus years of experience in journalism and nonprofit communications, having served as communications director at the Immigrant Defense Project, U.S. Media Director at Human Rights Watch, politics editor at Rolling Stone, and editor at ProgressiveBookClub.com and MotherJones.com. He received master’s degrees from Columbia Journalism School and the University of Cambridge and his bachelor’s from the University of Edinburgh.
