Former Brennan Center Fellow Wins Pulitzer for NSA Surveillance Reporting

Bart Gellman, former Brennan Center Fellow and Washington Post reporter, won a Pulitzer Prize this week for a series of reports detailing the NSA’s secret surveillance programs. The stories were based on leaked documents supplied by Edward Snowden.

“This prize is well-deserved,” said Faiza Patel, co-director of the Liberty and National Security Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law. “Gellman’s coverage of the NSA has been a service to all Americans. He brought to light and explained complex spying programs that need to be publicly debated and approved through democratic processes.”

This is Gellman’s third Pulitzer Prize. Gellman was a Fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice from 2011–2013. Read his bio here.
