Senate Committees
Committee on Rules and Administration has general jurisdiction and oversight responsibility over matters relating to federal elections.
Committee on the Judiciary has jurisdiction over issues regarding federal criminal law, federal judicial proceeding, civil liberties, constitutional rights and amendments, and apportionment of House of Representatives. It oversees the U.S. Department of Justice.
Committee on the Judiciary – Subcommittee on the Constitution has jurisdiction over enforcement and protection of constitutional rights and statutory guarantees of civil rights and civil liberties.
Committee on Appropriations – Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government has jurisdiction over appropriations made to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and the Federal Election Commission, and for election legislation.
House Committees
Committee on the Judiciary has oversight responsibility over the administration of justice within the federal courts, administrative agencies, and federal law enforcement entities. In particular, the committee has jurisdiction over issues that impact civil liberties.
