Hayne Yoon is senior counsel in the Brennan Center’s Voting Rights and Elections Program and the Bernard and Anne Spitzer Fellow. She previously served as a senior policy adviser to the assistant attorney general for the Office of Justice Programs at the Department of Justice. Prior to that, Yoon was the federal affairs director at the Vera Institute of Justice and served as a counsel in the Senate. She began her career as a deputy public defender in Los Angeles.
Yoon received her BA in sociology from the University of Chicago and her JD from NYU School of Law.
