Nicole Ndumele

Senior Fellow

Nicole Ndumele is a senior fellow at the Brennan Center, where she focuses on civil rights, democracy, criminal justice, and rule of law issues. Previously, Ndumele held multiple roles in the Department of Justice, including deputy associate attorney general, legislative and policy counsel, and trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division. Ndumele also served as the first senior vice president of rights and justice at the Center for American Progress and the inaugural director of strategic litigation at Arnold Ventures. Prior to that, she worked as a counsel at Protect Democracy, a public defender, and a Skadden Fellow at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights.

Ndumele received her BA from Brown University and her JD from Harvard Law School. She clerked for Judge Myron H. Thompson of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama.
