Margy O’Herron

Margy O’Herron is a senior fellow in the Brennan Center’s Liberty and National Security Program, where she focuses on the intersection of national security and immigration law and policy. She is also a nonresident immigration law and policy fellow at Cornell Law School.

O’Herron was previously a senior policy adviser at the Domestic Policy Council in the Executive Office of the President of the United States, where she focused on the president’s domestic immigration agenda, including initiatives to support family unity and build private refugee sponsorship. She also held multiple roles in the Department of Justice, including managing the immigration portfolio at the deputy attorney general’s office, serving as a member of the Board of Immigration Appeals, and overseeing the 2020 revision of the Overview of the Privacy Act at the Office of Privacy and Civil Liberties.

O’Herron received her BA from Bryn Mawr College and her JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
