Ava Kaufman

Special Assistant, Justice

Ava Kaufman was the special assistant to the director of the Brennan Center's Justice Program. She provided research assistance, scheduling, and administrative support. Before joining the Brennan Center, she interned for a year in the pro bono division of DLA Piper, where she did operational work and communications for pro bono initiatives and provided research assistance on various immigration and criminal justice projects.

Kaufman received a BA in psychology and sociology, with a focus in law, justice, and social change, from the University of Michigan. During her undergraduate years, she participated in multiple justice-related projects and community organizations. While managing a psychology research lab, she completed an honors thesis on adult outcomes for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
