Florida Groups Resume Voter Registration After Judge Halts Restrictive Law
Today, the League of Women Voters and Rock the Vote announced they would resume voter registration in Florida, one week after a federal judge blocked key provisions of a law restricting registration drives. The Brennan Center released the following statement from Counsel Lee Rowland, who argued the case in court on behalf of the groups.

The Brennan Center released the following statement from Counsel Lee Rowland, who argued the case in court on behalf of the groups:
“As Judge Hinkle recognized, when organizations like LWVF and RTV conduct voter registration drives they are engaging in constitutionally protected activity that promotes democracy. We are extremely pleased that the court’s initial ruling allows our clients to restart those efforts.”
The attorneys representing the civic groups are with the Brennan Center for Justice, the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Florida, and leading pro bono law firms Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and Florida-based Coffey Burlington. Lee Rowland of the Brennan Center, and Farrah Berse and Zachary Dietert of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP argued the case before the federal district court.
