Brennan Center and Other Groups Urge State Senate to Enact Real Rules Reform

New York, NY – Today, over 80 business groups and advocacy organizations sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno and Minority Leader David Paterson, outlining the specific areas of reform the Senate must include to produce comprehensive changes in the way the Senate operates.

We applaud both leaders for agreeing to work together to reform the rules of the Senate. They have an historic opportunity to make the Senate more effective and more accountable to all New Yorkers. They can and should do as Senator Bruno promised to out-reform the Assembly, said Jeremy Creelan, Deputy Director of the Democracy Program.
