The Brennan Center and more than twenty other organizations have sent a letter to Governor Green urging him to recall the Hawai’i National Guard members he sent to Washington, DC, at President Trump’s request.

On July 14, 2026, the Brennan Center for Justice submitted a comment to the North Carolina State Board of Elections urging the Board to rescind its proposed amendments to the voter ID exception laws, which would replace the current requirement that a county board unanimously find a voter ID exception affidavit false before rejecting it, with a majority vote standard.

On February 9, 2026, the Brennan Center for Justice, Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, and Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) submitted a comment urging the Department of Homeland Security to abandon its proposal to collect social media identifiers from the roughly 14.5 million foreign travelers per year who apply from countries deemed our “close allies.” 

On January 31, 2025, the Brennan Center joined 26 other organizations in condemning the president’s firing of three members of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board.
