Rodas Beyene is the paralegal in the Brennan Center's Voting Rights and Elections Program. She joined the Brennan Center after founding Hidri, a nonprofit organization established from the fruits of a small-scale initiative to deliver reusable menstrual health management products to displaced Eritrean girls and women in eastern Sudan. Previously, she worked at the U.S. Attorney's Office in New York City.
Beyene graduated from Northeastern University with a bachelor's degree in psychology and political science and a double minor in African studies and law and public policy. She participated in cooperative education opportunities with CODEPINK, USAO-SDNY, and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. She received her master's degree in global affairs from New York University with a concentration in human rights and international law. Her thesis focused on political repression and enforced disappearances of citizens with oppositional views, journalists, and members of parliament in Eritrea.
