Avani Singh

Program Associate, Elections & Government

Avani Singh is a program associate in the Brennan Center’s Elections and Government Program, where she works on money in politics and election security issues.

Prior to joining the Brennan Center, Singh served as a paralegal in the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, where she assisted in investigations assessing the harm of mergers and acquisitions in the media, entertainment, and communications space. She previously interned at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office and served as a policy and communications intern at the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice in San Francisco.

Singh graduated with high distinction from the University of California, Berkeley, with a BA in legal studies and political science. For her honors thesis, Singh interviewed judges across California to explore how they employ different modes of judicial decision-making in matters involving mental health. She makes recommendations for expanding judicial education to better serve the needs of those struggling with mental health challenges in the criminal justice system.
