In Arkansas, two candidates vied for the seat of Justice Jim Gunter, who did not seek re-election. The election was between Judge Josephine Linker Hart and Judge Raymond Abramson, who both currently sit on the Arkansas Court of Appeals. The Arkansas non-partisan judicial election was held on May 22 and Judge Josephine Linker Hart won the seat.

In Oregon, three Supreme Court seats were on the ballot in 2012. Chief Justice Paul De Muniz and Associate Justice Robert Durham both announced they would retire at the end of their terms, leaving their seats open to election.

In Montana, two Supreme Court seats were on the ballot for 2012. Judge Laurie McKinnon of the 9th District Court of Montana, attorney Elizabeth Best, and attorney Ed Sheehy competed in the state’s June 5th primary election for the seat of Justice James Nelson, who is not seeking re-election.
