Gov. Corbett: Don’t Sign Voter ID Bill

The Pennsylvania House just passed a restrictive voter ID bill, one of the first such laws to pass in 2012.

“This law will disenfranchise Pennsylvania voters, plain and simple,” said Keesha Gaskins, senior counsel at the Brennan Center. “Monday, the Department of Justice rejected a similar law in Texas, and a court struck one down in Wisconsin. Governor Corbett should take heed of these developments and refuse to sign this suppressive bill into law. Rather than erecting senseless barriers to voting, we should make our voting system work for all Americans by upgrading our ramshackle voter registration system.”
