Alan Beard serves as the Special Assistant to the President, providing research, editorial, and logistical support to President Michael Waldman. Prior to joining the Brennan Center in May, 2017, Alan worked as a Field Organizer for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He first moved to New York City in 2012 from his hometown of Portland, Oregon, to attend school at Columbia University. There, he majored in Political Science and focused his studies on movements for racial justice in the United States. After his first year of college, Alan worked as the Hispanic Outreach Coordinator for Corey Johnson’s campaign for City Council and proceeded to intern in the district offices of Congressman Jerry Nadler and State Senator Brad Hoylman. He graduated in 2016.
