Current criminal disenfranchisement laws
Under Pennsylvania law, the voting rights of people with criminal convictions are restored upon release from incarceration.
Legislative advocacy
2005. In the fall of 2005, the state senate was considering a regressive bill that would disenfranchise people on parole and possibly those on probation as well. The Brennan Center responded with a letter urging the Chairs of the Pennsylvania Senate State Government Committee to oppose the roll-back of voting rights. Advocates successfully persuaded legislators to remove the problematic sections of the bill pertaining to the voting rights of people with felony convictions.
