In Montana, two Supreme Court seats are on the ballot for 2012. Judge Laurie McKinnon of the 9th District Court of Montana, attorney Elizabeth Best, and attorney Ed Sheehy competed in the state’s June 5 primary election for the seat of Justice James Nelson, who is not seeking reelection. McKinnon and Sheehy received the most votes in the primary and will advance to the general election to compete for Justice Nelson’s seat.  Justice Brian Morris is running unopposed for re-election to his seat.

The general election will be held on November 6.
