This bill will be the biggest reform to our justice system in a generation. It’s indeed a first step, an initial salvo in ending the country’s miserable addiction to mass incarceration. But it is a must-pass bill.
The incoming House Democratic leadership unveiled their proposal for a comprehensive reform bill that would bolster voting rights, curb big money in politics, and take additional steps to strengthen our democracy.
The groups demanded that the federal agencies stop the inhumane and illegal policy of using information obtained from vulnerable immigrant children to find, arrest, and deport their parents and relatives when they come forward to assume responsibility for the children.
The League of Women Voters of Florida – represented by the Brennan Center and private lawyers – filed to intervene in an existing lawsuit for the purpose of ensuring that every eligible ballot cast in Florida’s Broward County is fairly counted.
The measure has the support of pivotal Republicans and Democrats in Congress, President Donald Trump’s senior White House advisors, and advocacy groups including the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law, and law enforcement groups.
