Joanna Zdanys serves as Counsel for the Brennan Center’s Democracy Program, where her work focuses on campaign finance reform and voting rights. Prior to joining the Brennan Center, Ms. Zdanys clerked for the Honorable LaShann DeArcy Hall in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Before her clerkship, Ms. Zdanys was a litigation associate in the New York office of Morrison & Foerster LLP, where her practice focused on government investigations, criminal defense, and complex civil litigation. She maintained an active pro bono practice focused on special education issues and indigent criminal defense.
Ms. Zdanys earned her JD from Fordham University School of Law, where she was the Editor-in-Chief of the Fordham Urban Law Journal and a Stein Scholar for the Public Interest. She holds a master’s degree in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in English, with distinction, from Yale College.
