Ava Mehta is a Research and Program Associate in the Democracy Program, where she focuses on the influence of money in politics. Prior to joining the Brennan Center in 2015, Ava gained experience with appellate and trial litigation through internships with the Office of the Solicitor General at the Department of Justice, and with the D.C. law firm Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca.
Ava graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with Highest Honors from U.C. Berkeley, with a B.A. in Political Science and a Minor in English. At Berkeley, her senior thesis focused on election law and voting rights, for which she received the Percy Grant for Public Affairs Research and the Goldman School of Public Policy Washington Fellowship. On campus, Ava served as a director in student government, and as the director of the Berkeley Chamber Ensemble.
