Amanda Melillo joined the Brennan Center in June 2012 as a Research Associate in the Democracy program. Prior to joining the Brennan Center, she worked as a policy analyst at the Institute for Children, Poverty, and Homelessness, where she focused on how New York City’s welfare-to-work programs affect employment outcomes for low-income families. She also spent several years working in local media covering politics, courts, crime and current events for the New York Post. She earned a B.A. in English and Medieval and Renaissance Studies from Vassar College and a master’s in Political Science from Columbia University.
