The Center takes great pride each year in presenting awards to those who have advanced the twin goals of equality and what Justice Brennan called "common human dignity" that lie at the heart of the Brennan Center's mission. 


Bill Cosby
Humorist, actor, author, for his magnificent philanthropy and for devoting his considerable talent to the universal struggle for social justice.

Elaine R. Jones
President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF), for her steadfast commitment to equality and her unyielding efforts to secure and protect the rights of people of color.

Marty Lipton
Chair of the New York University Board of Trustees, founding partner Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, for his leadership of and generosity to major educational and cultural institutions in benefit of equality and human dignity.
