Mark Ladov argued in support of the Rhode Island district court’s foreclosure settlement program in the First Circuit Court of Appeals. The program helps borrowers and lenders negotiate affordable loan modifications that restore value to distressed mortgage loans and keep families in their homes.

The Brennan Center for Justice, along with the Americans for Financial Reform Foreclosure Working Group, submitted a comment letter to the independent monitor of the national mortgage settlement, re-asserting that the monitor should use metrics to track whether hardest-hit communities are receiving settlement relief, and should increase current demands for data and transparency from the settling mortgage servicers.
