Shannon Parker joined the Brennan Center in April 2013 as a Research Associate in the Liberty and National Security Program. Prior to joining the Center, she lived in Beijing and researched Chinese education policy on a Fulbright-Hays scholarship. She also volunteered as an ESL teacher to Guatemalan immigrants, taught Chinese college students as a Princeton in Asia Fellow, and served as an Executive Board member for the Black Student Union. She graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a B.A. in Public Policy and East Asian Studies, where she received the highest departmental honors for her thesis on affirmative action in China and the United States.
