Rishi Manchanda

Dr. Rishi Manchanda is President & Founder of HealthBegins, a startup that provides healthcare with tools to help address patients' social needs and the community factors that drive disease, and serves as the Director of Health System Transformation at Charles R Drew University of Medicine and Science, the only medical school west of the Mississippi federally designated as a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). He also works in the Office of Transformation and Innovation at the Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System as the lead physician for a new clinic serving homeless veterans.

In 2008, Dr. Manchanda founded RxDemocracy!, a national nonpartisan coalition of health care providers who increase voter and civic engagement to reduce health inequity. Dr. Manchanda served in the National Health Service Corps for four years. During that time, he was the Director of Social Medicine and Health Equity at a community health center network in south Los Angeles, where he provided primary care and led initiatives addressing social determinants of health.

Dr. Manchanda earned undergraduate, medical and public health degrees from Tufts University and was the first graduate of UCLA's combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency program. He is a board member of the National Physicians Alliance and has served on the advisory board of the Grameen Creative Lab, a project of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus.
