
Emily Harris
Emily Harris was the former Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Programs. Emily worked on issues of criminal justice, civil right to counsel, and religious discrimination as an Intern for the Brennan Center’s Justice and Liberty and National Security Programs; she remained involved in criminal justice issues, co-developing and co-presenting an Arraignment Court Tour, at which participants are given a ground-level perspective on criminal justice system issues such as defender caseloads, pre-trial detention, prosecutorial discretion and overincarceration, in the context of the arraignment process in Manhattan Criminal Court.
Prior to joining the Brennan Center, she worked as a kindergarten tutor in low-income elementary schools. Emily received her B.A. in Religious and Political Philosophy from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University in December 2011.
