Arkansas Education Television Commission v. Forbes
Voting Rights & Elections

This 1998 case addressed the standards by which candidates may be excluded from a state-sponsored debate. The Center filed an amicus brief alerting the U.S. Supreme Court to possible effects its decision might have on public financing schemes and ballot access rules. Both the majority and the dissent rejected the extreme positions advocated by the parties and adopted the Center’s analysis.
