Automatic Registration

A.B. 892: A bill in the last session of the Wisconsin Assembly would have provided for automatic voter registration of those who apply for driver's licenses, public assistance, fishing licenses, or unemployment benefits. The Brennan Center's Justin Levitt testified before the Wisconsin Assembly Committee on Elections and Campaign Reform and the Wisconsin Senate Committee on Labor, Elections and Urban Affairs in support of this and similar legislation. His testimony is available here. The bill failed to pass.
