Online Registration

• S.B. 025: In 2009, the state legislature passed, and the governor signed into law, a bill enabling the lieutenant governor to create an online voter registration system. The state has since implemented online voter registration.
• The Governor's Commission on Strengthening Utah's Democracy recently recommended that all Utah residents should have the opportunity to submit registration information through an online form, which will then be downloaded, printed, and delivered with an original signature or delivered electronically via portable document format to a county clerk.

Election Day Registration

• The Governor's Commission on Strengthening Utah's Democracy recently recommended that Utah repeal its current voter registration deadlines and institute Election Day registration.

Automatic Registration

• The Governor's Commission on Strengthening Utah's Democracy recently recommended that the Lieutenant Governor's Office, which is in charge of election administration, use information submitted to other government entities (driver's licensing, social service, and tax collecting agencies) to automatically register a voter and/or to update the voter's voting file.
