Research Projects
To
help advocates and policymakers understand the problem of workplace violations
and develop responses, the Brennan Center is conducting some of the nation's
first original field research on the pervasiveness of workplace violations in
several dozen low-wage industries. Our first study,
Unregulated Work in the Global City: Employment and
Labor Law Violations in New York City, was published in 2007. The report is based on more
than three hundred interviews with employers, workers and other stakeholders in
New York City. A follow-up study, which will survey thousands of workers in New
York, Chicago and Los Angeles, will be fielded in the coming year.
