Legislature to Hear Justices on Scandal

Article reports that next week the judiciary committee of the Connecticut legislature will question at least three Supreme Court justices regarding former Chief Justice William Sullivan_s delayed release of a controversial decision in order to aid fellow Justice Peter Zarella_s chance of succeeding him on the bench. Legislators also plan to ask the justices about a vote in which the justices were tied 3-3 as to whether to refer Chief Justice Sullivan to the Judicial Review Council for an investigation into possible judicial canons violations. The 3-3 vote drew criticism because Justice Zarella may have participated. At least three justices_Justice Zarella, Acting Chief Justice David Borden, and Justice Richard Palmer_have agreed to testify.
