Crain’s New York Business reports: “[New York City] on Wednesday launched a new nonprofit aimed at helping homeowners who are in imminent danger of foreclosure. The Center for NYC Neighborhoods will offer counseling and referral services, legal assistance, loan remediation, preventative outreach, education, training, research and advocacy related to subprime lending and mortgage foreclosures . . . . The nonprofit’s $5.3 million budget will be partly funded by city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development ($1 million) and the City Council ($1.8 million) . . . .”
