Kentucky Post states:  "Thousands of local taxpayers have more cash to their name, thanks to free tax preparation services sponsored by United Way of Greater Cincinnati.  In all, 9,223 families took advantage of the free opportunity, helping them achieve financial stability . . . .  Beginning in February [2008], 344 volunteers from around the Tri-State helped local families determine whether they qualified for Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a federal tool that returns more money to hardworking, low income taxpayers.  Of the thousands of families, who received the assistance, 3,035 claimed the EITC, receiving up to $4,716 additional cash back . . . .  More than a dozen partners participated in the United Way initiative coalition in Hamilton and Clermont counties, Butler County and Northern Kentucky.  Those partnerships were managed by the [LSC-funded] Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati, Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, and Northern Kentucky University, Salmon P. Chase College of Law, respectively."
