Grant to Provide Legal Help for Low-Income Patients (Virginia)
The Obici Healthcare Foundation has offered a $150,000 grant to the Virginia Legal Aid Society. The money is meant to help low-income families and individuals obtain better health care through legal channels. The grant will be used to hire a new lawyer at Legal Aid locally to work with patients and health care providers in Western Tidewater, including Suffolk, Franklin and the counties of Isle of Wight and Southampton. The new medical-legal collaboration is called the HEAL Project - Health, Education, Advocacy and Law - said Rhonda Knight, director of development with the Virginia Legal Aid Society in Lynchburg-.
