Legal Services of New Jersey President Melville D. Miller praises that state’s new program which will reward mothers who have moved from welfare to work with a $3,000 "career advancement voucher" for further schooling. The state has allocated $5.5 million for the first year, which will be given to women who have been working for at least four months. Women can also get baby-sitting assistance from the state while they attend classes. Miller says, "It’s certainly an important emphasis and recognition by the State of the great need for helping people get further education and training so they can further their careers and enhance their wage prospects."
