Making Sausages: How NY Laws are Made

In July 2009, the NY State Senate passed a new set of Rules to enable the faster movement of bills; they take effect when the Senate resumes in session today. In conjunction with the NYC Bar, we offer a roadmap that can, and should, be used by advocates and lawmakers as to how to get bills, hopefully, voted on more quickly. The Rules will be put to the test in the next few months; Gotham Gazette profiles the first set of issues the Senate will address.
